InConcert Financial Group:
A rich history of financial consulting for individuals and businesses in the San Francisco Bay Area
The roots of InConcert Financial Group date
back to 1966 when it was one of a national chain of General
Business Services franchises providing clients with monthly
and annual financial statements and advice on how to improve
ratios and returns. It would soon become available for purchase.
At that time, Tom Biesheuvel was completing his Series 7 license
to become a General Securities Broker. As an Account Manager
with a boutique investment firm in San Francisco, Tom began
to realize the benefits of bringing together all elements
of a client's financial portfolio, including tax strategy,
into what we now call "total wealth management." He excitedly brought the idea to the firm's partners, only
to be told that was not the direction they wanted to pursue.
He subsequently left to join a firm that was enthusiastic
about his approach, and asked him to start their San Francisco
branch.
In the spring of 1973, Tom spied an advertisement
in the Wall Street Journal for the sale of a Bay Area General
Business Services franchise. Tom jumped at the chance to chart
his own course and offer full service financial consulting
to clients. Shortly after the birth of his second child, he
officially opened TRB&Co., and operated the business from
his home. In 1975, Tom's friend and accounting expert, Rich
Scarpa, agreed to join the firm and they moved to a small
industrial building in Berkeley. With a team of seven people,
BGS&Co focused on providing accounting, tax, strategic
coaching and personal wealth building to its clients. Over
the next ten years, the firm began cultivating and delivering
additional services, such as general real estate transaction
advice, in addition to a complete suite of financial consulting
for both individuals and businesses.
In 1985, the firm officially changed its
name to Biesheuvel, Scarpa & Co. (BSCo), and in 1989 purchased
and moved into its current building located at 6333 Potrero
Avenue in El Cerrito.
Our Wealth Management & Investment
division, Heritage Capital, was founded in 1991. Our firm was on the cutting edge of the independent
investment brokerage firm community, providing investment
advice on a fee, rather than commission, basis. This allows
us to provide our clients with unbiased and customized service.
Since then, our firms have continued to
be at the forefront of financial consulting for individuals
and small-to-medium-sized businesses in the San Francisco
Bay Area. We keep a pulse on the needs of our clients, and
carefully add the necessary talent and services to meet those
needs. In 2006, with the addition of our full-scale business
growth consulting practice, personal financial planning program
and real estate advisory services, we decided to change our
name to something that more clearly represents who we have
become. Thus, InConcert Financial group was born and launched
on January 1, 2007, with a goal to become the premiere, full-service
financial consulting firm in northern California.
